What to expect:
Metem is a slow-burn, character driven mixture of Progression Fantasy and LitRPG. Leveling starts slow, characters have depth, and if you stick around long enough it all comes to an already outlined end. Slotted to be 4-6 books long, it aims to be a gateway to this up and coming genre.
What is litrpg?
LitRPG (short for Literary Role-Playing Game) is a genre of fiction that combines traditional storytelling with the structure and mechanics of role-playing games (RPGs).
Set in worlds governed by game mechanics; complete with levels, stats, quests, and skill trees. Characters grow stronger, unlock new abilities, find or forge epic loot, and face increasingly difficult challenges.
Generally situated in a virtual reality world or a fantasy realm, LitRPG brings the experience of playing a game through the pages of a book.
what is progression fantasy?
Though LitRPG and Progression Fantasy have considerable overlap, there are some differences.
Progression Fantasy stories emphasize training, overcoming limits, and leveling up through effort and determination; usually with fewer or without the stats/XP found in LitRPG.
These stories come across as more organic inside their given worlds and lack the gaming aspect associated with traditional LitRPG’s.
